In the Nakao Highlands of Shin-Hotaka Onsen, the autumn foliage is illuminated against the backdrop of scenery at an elevation of 1,000 meters. Visitors can enjoy the brilliantly colored leaves in a magical atmosphere quite different from the daytime.
Admission is free for everyone, and the illuminated autumn leaves can be viewed from sunset until 21:00. For access, taking a bus from Takayama Nohi Bus Center is convenient, taking about 88 minutes.
